HurriCon

HurriCon is the only benefit comic art convention in New York. After Hurricane Sandy hit our East Rockaway neighbors, the church parish hall became the relief center for the surrounding community. With the help of the Red Cross, FEMA , United Way, and caring neighbors; Sandy’s victims could come to the church to get supplies; food, medicine, cleaning supplies, clothing, diapers, etc.

Hundreds of people came to the Bethany Church gym during the following months and the gym floor took a beating and needed a facelift. The gym floor has been redone and looks great, but we still had to pay for it and that is how HurriConwas born in 2018! All profits from HurriCon go right back to Bethany Church to continue their mission in the community.

What will you find at Hurricon? Comic books of course, but also toys, art, posters, food, local artists, “The Walking Taco”, collectibles, cosplay, fellowship and much more. Our guest list has included writers and artists from Marvel and DC Comics.There will also be raffles for rare and hard to find items like original comic artwork and limited-edition books and toys.
